As the burden of chronic disease threatens to overwhelm medical systems everywhere, we need a new way to think about our health−as well as a new term that is bigger than prevention.

The word “salutogenesis” fills a 21st century language and conceptual gap.

“Health care” typically refers to “medical services.” While greater emphasis on prevention is vital, do we really want to live our lives focused on prevention?
